Behavior is driven by Emotion NOT Logic
Talking To Toddlers is help for every parent and provides tips to improve toddlers’ behavior! Behavior is definitely a result of a child’s emotional state! Everyone, regardless of age, acts according to emotions! We all tend to justify our actions by logic! The Headline above is fundamental to understanding people of all ages!
This is especially true when you are dealing with toddlers. Behavior is determined by the emotional state for any person of any age! Our guide is geared to toddlers and small kids, but it could just as easily be applied to our elderly parents and even those in between!
Men, women, teenagers, youngsters of all ages act according to their emotional state! We would deal in a much better way if we would remember this logic! When people act according to their emotions at the time of the behavior, they later justify that behavior with logic! However, small children don’t have the skill to use logic, so their actions are the result completely of emotions! Never forget this when dealing with toddlers!
Talking to Toddlers when The Word NO is used too often
If we continually say “NO” to our kids, they tune us out and no longer even hear us. They stop paying attention and we disappear into their subconscious! Problems arise and multiply when a child no longer pays attention to a parent! Their behavior becomes “out of hand” or undisciplined! Not true! Their behavior is the result of our actions and reactions!
This brings to mind the old story of the youngster who cried wolf! Remember that one? A young shepherd was tired of tending the sheep. He decided to shake up the village and cause some excitement! He cried wolf once too often and the villagers stopped listening to his false cries for help. We all know the ending to that story!!!
The same thing happens to little kids when they constantly hear the word NO. Kids no longer hear or even pay attention. In their small minds, the parent fades into the background because they hear it constantly. What has happened between parent and child? Kids stop listening when they hear their Mother or Father cry “No” at every little thing. The parent’s cries fade into the background. Behavior problems, especially in toddlers, are the direct result of the parent’s warning.
There are many ways to teach children what you want that work like a charm compared to yelling “NO” at your toddler.
