Old fashioned Cabbage Noodles is a perfect meal by itself and goes well with Fried Chicken too! The biggest secret ingredient is a cast iron fry pan! Old fashioned Cabbage Noodles is a perfect addition to Fried Chicken!
Grate a head of cabbage, salt, and pepper it to taste and fry in butter (again in a cast iron pan). Fry slow and stir often. Add a bit of water when needed to prevent browning. It takes about an hour on low heat. Add a bit of water to prevent the cabbage from browning and cook until the color subdues. This is a good reason to have several of these cast iron pans! Boil bow tie noodles, drain and add cabbage to noodles and serve hot with Fried Chicken! Yummy, so good!

Fried Chicken and Cabbage Noodles
My grandson Austin is the biggest fan of my Fried Chicken! He begs for it whenever he comes to visit! Just watching him inhale it makes you want it! So scrumptious!!
My Fried Chicken recipe starts with my Mother’s cast iron frying pan. I have a whole set of different sizes because everything tastes better in cast iron! Nothing works better. (there was a time when only Lard was used to fry chicken, but that is considered unhealthy these days) so veggie oil is the next best!! Note to all: my both sets of grandparents lived into their late 90s after frying everything in Lard! Their children and grandchildren missed that inheritance with healthy cooking! You be the judge!
I cut up a whole chicken and use all of it! My batter is easy and always delicious! Lots of flavorings in the eggs of the batter: garlic, onion powder, pepper, paprika, a pinch of oregano, celery salt, and one shake of parsley flakes. You might add “your own” favorites! More always enhances the taste! Add cornstarch to milk, shake well, and mix with the egg mixture.
Shake your chicken in a zip lock bag of flour to lightly cover, then dip in the egg mixture. Do this twice so the bread crumbs keep firm when frying. Cover last with plain breadcrumbs and fry in your cast iron pan, turning to brown all sides! So yummy! Serve with Cabbage & Noodles instead of French Fries! You will want more and more!! Enjoy!!~
