Sharing quality time with others and enjoying good conversations. I have been richly blessed in my life with a spouse who I loved and loved me. We were rich in Kids and Love! I have been so very blessed to have 6 good children and two newborns that stepped right into heaven plus 13 grandchildren to share our lives. Also Friends and Family, who love and understand me and who share their happy and sad experiences and listen to mine. Years may pass, but memories linger on. When I come to the end of a day, I like to thank the Lord for my health, a well-working mind and more good friends that I’ve met in this terrific Community.
Coffee,Wine and My Memories
I still share everything with my loving spouse, Carl, even though he passed on to his heavenly role. We were best of friends as well as lovers and spouses. We were never bored in each other’s company. Toasting him at the end of my day with fine wine is a ritual. Praying he blesses me with his watchful heart. I know in my heart he would also enjoy our Fine Wine and toast me back.
A Man of Integrity, Compassion and Determination
My honey knew me so well that he read my mind by the looking at my eyes. Carl also had a superb intuition. When introduced to someone he already knew what kind of person they were. Scary thing is he was always right. Many times he told me that I loved everyone and never saw any bad in them. That was true. “Never change that, he would say. But I want you to be careful that no one scams or takes advantage of you. Keeping his remark in mind, made me something of a sceptic. That is why my antennas are always up when I get a call from an unidentfied number.
My husband had a handicap from the age of 5 when he was hit by a car. But God gave him a tremendously great attitude and good talents. Our friends often confided to me that with all he is always going through, he never complains or mopes. He is continuously happy. “I grew up with a bad leg and hip so I don’t know any different. Feel sorry for those that had two good legs and then found themselves impaired badly from an accident, disease or mishap later in life. It must be horrible for them.
Determination & Positive Attitude Overcomes a Disability
In spite of his disability, there was nothing he would not do or at least try his best to do. He would cut grass in our postage-stamp-size Yard, hobbling on one crutch while pushing an electric lawn mower. Then off he hobbled with crutch and mower to do two of our neighbors yards as well! (His injury was such that he had to use a crutch and could not use a cane or walker)
His last 20 years he was often incapcitated and/or hospitalized. Being his caregiver or nurse was never a chore for me. I never wanted to be a nurse, but for my hubby, I could do plenty of nursing. Now, I count my blessings as I look back on all our memories of raising our kids, enjoying them and each other’s company, conversation and just all being together. He always saw the whys and hows of my labors or projects and encouraged me. We never ran out of conversation and both of us were good listeners.
Plus I am able to share this with those I meet. It is a wonderful thing. I literally feel like I have found the “Unicorn” of weight management. Though I have no intention to keep it a secret. So, I literally share it with anyone I can. I have people in my life that need this, but sometimes family skepticism dominates good decisions.
